An answer that raises another question.

Is the short cubit (πυγμή) used in the Biblical measurement system, or as a word for soecifically the forearm?

Only used to mean "fist" in Exo 21:18 and Isa 58:4, as a translation of אֶגְרֹף, which again is not used as a unit of measurement in the Tanakh.

Fists are not very effective without at least the forearm behind them. I can't imagine that o mean "fist" in Exodus 21:18 and Isaish 58:4 are based on the imagery of twiddling the wrist so just the fist strike - like some sort of back-handed knocking on the chest.

Quite possible that it is more a club/stick that has a fist-shaped end to it - that would be quite effective in Exo 21:18 :)
