Celebrate by reading extra chapters from the LXX! Or make a vow to start reading the LXX if you haven't started.

How cool that there is such a day! I'm reading Exodus in the LXX right now. I second this advice.

I started reading bits of the LXX not that long ago, and was pleasantly surprised to find that I could. Or at least, that Genesis' prose chapters aren't that much more difficult than Matthew's gospel to me. :)

However, I've yet to find a good "Reader's" environment for LXX reading online. Has anyone found a solution for this? Everything I've tried so far doesn't handle words which occur in the LXX but not the GNT (i.e. precisely when I would need glosses!). For example:
  • biblewebapp is my favorite reading environment usually, but in the lxx it omits those lxx-only vocab from the text entirely. It took me awhile to make out why the text didn't make sense!
  • katabiblon has a reader's environment, but doesn't seem to include glosses for words that are LXX-only.

If you can spring for it, the new readers edition LXX from Hendrickson is a real pleasure.

Have you tried the Alpheios Reading Tools browser extension (for Chrome and Firefox)? It turns any web page into a sort of reader's environment. Double-click on a Greek word, and it'll parse it and show some lexical entries. You can choose from four Greek lexica.

I'd also point to the free resources from FaithLife/Logos (including the Swete edition of the LXX):

There is also www.greekdoc.com, which includes glosses and parsing for LXX, GNT, and Apostolic Fathers.

I've used it a lot and it works well.
