TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading & Storytelling)

Post by Paul-Nitz »

Here is a typical TPRS lesson from our last week of classes.

In October 2012 (post above) I had just dabbled in TRPS. Now it is part of our regular class routine. 1-2 class hours (5/wk) are devoted to telling a story and asking questions about it. You'll see in the video that some of the American Sign Language we use for our WAYK (whereareyourkeys.org) classes is coming through in our TPRS lessons (such as the sign of pinky finger to the cheek for "if")

I've learned much about the method from the excellent Yahoo "Latin Best Practices" list.

We've also had some discussion about it on the fledgling "Ancient Best Practices Group."

Here's another very good article on TPRS circling by James Hosler.
