biblicalhumanities.org and Perseus need your advice
Perseus and biblicalhumanities.org are cooperating to digitize a variety of resources related to biblical Greek. I have been asked to put together a wishlist. Here is a set of resources that I think are probably worth digitizing - do you agree? Are any of these resources no longer important? Am I missing any out-of-copyright resources that should be added to this list?

This and others have been digitized by Ted Hildebrandt into a non UTF8 compliant font called greekth.tff (http://faculty.gordon.edu/hu/bi/ted_hil ... REEKTH.TTF) and hebrewth.tff (http://faculty.gordon.edu/hu/bi/ted_hil ... BREWTH.TTF). You can find a list of his resources at http://faculty.gordon.edu/hu/bi/ted_hildebrandt/. NT Greek resources can be found at http://faculty.gordon.edu/hu/bi/ted_hil ... WebBib.htm. I converted AT Robertson's from this font by adapting the GreekTranscoder (an Excel template module) http://greektranscoder.org/ utility to transcode greekth/hebrewth into unicode. This utility could be used to transform any of his documents into unicode MSWord documents all those documents listed in his bib.

Nice resources there, Louis - thanks for the heads-up!
For the A.T. Robertson grammar, I assume we are best off starting with your edited version and converting it to TEI or DocBook or whatever?

Re: biblicalhumanities.org and Perseus need your advice
The dictionary that I most often use is the Greek - Greek Μέγα λεξικόν όλης της ελληνικής γλώσσης: Great dictionary of the Greek language (Ancient & Modern) by Dimitris Dimitrakos (Δημήτρης Δημητράκος) (1964). http://www.scribd.com/doc/34960990/%CE% ... homere-comThe work is enormous and searching through the poorly scanned manually type written .pdf's is a drag. It is not so great for the Latin (linguistically) influence Byzantine Period or the Period of Turkish rule or for dialects (όλης might seem to suggest exhaustive but after using it, is seems to mean all that we need to move forward with) but is otherwise very good and useful. For "Ecclesiastical" Byzantine Greek, Koine, Ancient (not so good for dialects) and Modern (more literary than venacular) it is very good.
English-Greek Dictionary S. C. Woodhouse 1910 has to be taken with a grain of salt and a lot of cross-checking when composing in (something like) Koine Greek, but it is still useful as a first piont of departure. The digitalised version by the University of Chicago Library http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/efts/Woodhouse/ is excellent by limited in its indexing in that at present it only searches by dictionary headwords not words within the entries and doesn't allow searching by the Greek words, and that is a feature that would be useful.

Woodhouse is possible, but not specific to biblical Greek.
The other is 1964, and very unlikely to be out of copyright.

The work was published in Greece and copyright there extends for life + 70. Δημητράκος passed away in 1966.Jonathan Robie wrote:The other is 1964, and very unlikely to be out of copyright.

Question about LSJ's supplement
I have a question / suggestion about LSJ ...
Has the supplement (does that include the addenda and corrigenda?) been worked into the currently available online versions of LSJ? Are they LSJs or LSJMs? I get the impression that it is the 1940 version without the 1996 suppliment.
If the supplement is still under copyright (not provided copyright free as an apology for mistakes), then perhaps including a note that there is more material or corrections in the suppliment, but not actually including that material would be helpful. I think it would be better to know that the reference material I am going to be looking at is the most reliable or whether I should look further to find. Would such an "index" infringe copyright?

Re: Question about LSJ's supliment
Yeah, that's my impression too.Stephen Hughes wrote:Has the suppliment (does that include the addenda and corrigenda?) been worked into the currently available online versions of LSJ? Are they LSJs or LSJMs? I get the impression that it is the 1940 version without the 1996 suppliment.
In my dead tree edition, entries for which the supplement has additional material are indicated in the main body of the lexicon with an added circle-star. This is clearly something that they added to the plates or something, so that they did not have to retypeset the whole thing. I agree that it would be nice to know that there are supplement materials for various entries in whatever online edition that exists.Stephen Hughes wrote:If the suppliment is still under copyright (not provided copyright free as an apology for mistakes), then perhaps including a note that there is more material or corrections in the suppliment, but not actually including that material would be helpful. That must be a recent innovation. I went through my copy (long since given away) with a pencil and wrote the supplement material in.Stephen Carlson wrote:In my dead tree edition, entries for which the supplement has additional material are indicated in the main body of the lexicon with an added circle-star.
