Victor of Antioch Gsp. Mk: Who's commentary is it?

Post by Stirling Bartholomew »

I am posting this here (also) because there are people on this forum who might know if there is an answer to this. Victor of Antioch didn't claim to be doing original work. John W. Burgon made the following comment:

Victor’s Commentary on S. Mark’s Gospel is generally considered to be claimed for Cyril of Alexandria by the following words: ΥΠΟΘΕCΙC ΕΙC ΤΟ ΚΑΤΑ ΜΑΡΚΟΝ ΑΓΙΟΝ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ
ΕΚ ΤΗC ΕΙC ΑΥΤΟΝ ΕΠΜΗΝΕΙΑC ΤΟΥ ΕΝ ΑΓΙΟΙC
ΚΥΡΙΛΛΟΥ c.

The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel According to S. Mark: Vindicated Against Recent Critical Objectors and Established by John W. Burgon, James Parker and Co. 1871, APPENDIX (D) p279.
John W. Burgon APPENDIX (D) had a lot to say about Victor's Mark. Not finding much talk about this elsewhere.

Victor is found in:

“Catenae Graecorum patrum in Novum Testamentum, vol. 1”, Ed. Cramer, J.A.
Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1840.
