Philo, Special Laws, Book 2, Ch. XXIX, §162

Post by Mike Baber »

Can someone critique my translation?

And, there is a feast during the feast (the day just after the first [day of the feast]), which is named "the sheaf," from what takes place. For, they bring this to the altar as the first-fruits of both the land which the nation received to dwell in, and of the entire earth, to be the first-fruits of both the individual nation and also for the entire common race of mankind.

Thank you!

Note the change to the subject of this post.
Mike Baber wrote:...

... of both the individual nation and also for the entire common race of mankind.
Just notice that ἰδίαν and κοινήν are feminine singular, so they don't modify ἔθνους and γένους, which are neuter genitive.
