This one comes to mind ...

ἐσμεν τὰ ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα πρόβατα
Hi, Jonathan,What slogans do you think Occupy SBL should use?
Cute! (But shouldn't #2 be simply "ναί, δυνάμεθα"?)Mark Lightman wrote:1. οἱ ἄνθρωποι ἀντὶ τῶν προφητῶν. (people over profits.)
2. δυνάμεθα μὲν οὖν ἐν τῷ ἐνδυναμοῦντι ἡμᾶς. (Yes, we can!)
3. The τί Party.
Yes, that works fine. The rest of it is an allusion to one of my favorite verses, Phil 4:13Cute! (But shouldn't #2 be simply "ναί, δυνάμεθα"?)
Yes, HE can!
"πας" cannot be in that position right? And would "ολος" be a more suitable choice?NathanSmith wrote:ο πας κοσμος γρηγορει
I know I am a bit late for SBL suggestions. . .
I could be wrong, but I think that σκήνη πᾶς ὁ βίος was a Greek adage before Shakespeare reforumulated it as "All the world's a stage." I think that πᾶς ὄ κόσμος is a reasonable Greek expression. Cf. Rom 3:19 and Col 1:6.David Lim wrote:"πας" cannot be in that position right? And would "ολος" be a more suitable choice?NathanSmith wrote:ο πας κοσμος γρηγορει

Unless I'm mistaken (as I may well be), this would refer to people less than thirty years old. I think that with reference to time, ὑπέρ means "farther back than ... " I'm ready to be corrected on this.Mark Lightman wrote:μὴ πίστευε τοῖς ὑπὲρ τὰ τριάκοντα ἔτη.
