If you're going by the Gutenberg rules, note the difference between US copyright law (which is relatively complex) and those of other countries (death+50 in the Berne Convention or death+70). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... ght_length
Rahlfs published the Septuaginta in Stuttgart. Rahlfs died in 1935. German copyright expires 70 years after the author's death. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that mean the 1935 edition (I'm not speaking of the 1979 reprint) is in the public domain in Germany?
