I have been learning Mark verse by verse with the limited resources. This is how I have been learning: On the first day I learn verse 1. I listen to mp3s by this order: Prof. Robinson (slow speed), Louis Sorenson (moderate), Marilyn Phemister (medium), John Simon (quick) and Vasilios Vellas (fast). On the second day I learn verses 1-2, On the third day verses 1-3, and so on...
Hi Mindy,

I have two tools I've found helpful in learning passages in Hebrew and Greek, being very new to the languages. They might suit the way you are learning, too.

This is a player which can repeat clause by clause.
http://www.animatedhebrew.com/reader/nt/

It only has a couple of chapters in the NT at the moment, and only the fast, Modern recording, but the author (Charles Grebe) is very responsive and might add John Simon and some more chapters of Mark if you ask him -- there's a contact form on the home page:
http://www.animatedhebrew.com/

A second tool is Audacity: a free sound editor. I have used it to cut sections out of an audio file, and to slow them down.

I am grateful for Textkit. But I am sorry for having stopped learning Crosby and Schaeffer textbook, even though it is helpful.

Maybe it is mainly for Greek students, but not for biblical Greek students. I learned it because it was the first and only textbook I ever had.
C&S was my beginning text my freshman year of college. After a year in that, and a semester of reading Plato, I had no trouble reading the Gospel of Mark.

Hi, Mindy,

Another site for reading Westcott-Hort online is BibleHub, http://biblehub.com/whd/matthew/1.htm.

This link does work. I checked it yesterday and this morning. The text does have accent marks and breathings.

Concerning the King James Only and Majority Text views, I might have unintentionally given the wrong impression. The way I wrote, it may have sounded like the Majority Text advocates are also King James Only advocates. That is not necessarily the case. I am sure many who prefer the Majority Text aren’t KJV Only advocates. Perhaps some are, but not all.

We wish you well in your Greek studies, and feel free to continue asking questions to help you learn!

This is helpful.

It contains some Greek Old Testament.

I have been listening to Abraham Shmuel's mp3 from here: http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt0.htm
He has recorded all Old Testament. I have only been learning the Torah and some parts of the historical and prophetic Books.

There are verse by verse chanting mp3s on a Jewish website. I used to visit it.

I will contact him. Thank you, daveburt.

Hi, Devenios,

Thank you.

I have been using this site for parallel study. But I didn't find the text for a whole chapter, because I hadn't selected Greek from the list first. Now I have found it.

Here's another site for the text (Mark) from Greek audio.com: http://www.letsreadgreek.com/ntaudio/ma ... mark03.htm

It's fine to read other English Bible versions. I read King James Version. I like listening to the Scripture readings by Dr Peter Masters of London Metropolitan Tabernacle. They use the KJV.

Best wishes,

Mindy

Yes, it is fine to read other Bible versions. I am making my own, in fact (Here's a link to my post here about my blog, where you will find it in the near future: [http://www.ibiblio.org/bgreek/forum/vi ... =29&t=4427).

When I'm reading devotionally, not for teachng or preaching, I tend not to read English Bibles but ones in Greek, Hebrew, Latin, or another language I'm studying.

You are a Bible translator! It's an honor to meet and learn from Dr. Buth, you and other scholars here.

Concerning devotional reading, it is almost the same with me. I learn Hebrew Torah, LXX and Greek New Testament. Hebrew, Greek and everyone's own mother tongue are basic biblical languages. Hebrew is for the Old Testament, Greek for NT and mother tongues are for both. Because of language learning, I only have time to read Chinese Bible while doing the parallel reading.
