This is not directly on topic, but Sura 61.6 of the Koran reads as follows:
And when Jesus son of Mary said: O Children of Israel!
Lo! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which
was revealed before me in the Torah, and bringing good tidings
of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is Ahmad (the
Praised One).
Tor Andrae,in _Mohammed:The Man and His Faith_, p 35, comments:
Ahmad has the same significance as Mohammed--'the illustrious.'
It is usually assumed that some Arabic Christian, who knew Greek,
played upon the words of Jesus in the Gospel of John, where he
promises his disciples to send them another comforter. Instead
of _parakletos_ he reads _periklytos_, which signifies Ahmad
in Arabic.
