If your institution is contemplating the establishment of an accredited
PhD program, the ANRW is certainly a very important resource. My
experience of it was that it fully justified the (agreed, very high)
price because of the quality of its treatment of almost every aspect of
scholarship regarding late antiquity. The bibliographic information
alone is almost worth the price.
