The Newton Project is hiring two research/editorial assistants. Please
propagate this ad on any history of science, history, theology, etc. lists
on which the notice has not yet appeared. The application deadline is 1

We are in the first instance looking for people who are strong in theology,
Latin, Greek (even Hebrew would help) and patristics.

Research/Editorial Assistants for Newton Papers

The Newton Project is preparing an edition of Newtonâs theological,
alchemical and administrative papers in both electronic and printed form.
The project seeks one full-time and one half-time assistant to help in the
transcription and editing of these papers. Applicants should have training
and/or experience in relevant fields such as history, history of science,
theology or patristics. They should also be able to transcribe Latin and
Greek composed in an early modern hand; acquaintance with SGML or similar
languages is desirable.

The successful candidates will be appointed for 5 years and will begin
their employment on 1 October 1999 or the nearest mutually acceptable date
thereafter.

For postdoctoral researchers starting salary will be 17,570 pounds plus
2,134 pounds London Allowance rising by annual increments. Applicants
without equivalent qualifications will be appointed on RA1B 15,735 pounds
plus 2,134 pounds London Allowance rising by annual increments.
