I agree I think one of the things that would help most laymen is to realize
that just as a single English idea can be expressed many ways in English.
The number of possible ways to say it goes up with translation. Therefore,
it is less important which translation is "best." But which one is liked the
most.
If translation is an art not an exact science then taste is the most
important thing.
This assumes that the translation is accurate.
