Greetings, Brian and all,

You inquired if the DE in Matthew 5:22 would be connective or ascensive. I
clearly see it as connective. If it were ascensive it would be repeating
the situation in the preceding statement and adding some information to it.
 The teaching concerning anger is adding to the body of revealed truth, but
is not a restatement and embellishment of the OT teaching concerning
murder. Hence is would not be ascensive, but connective.
