Hello everybody,
this may be a problem that mostly occurs in german bibletranslations.
I had a discussion about the translation of ADELFOI. The word is used very
frequently in the letters of Paul, James and John is usually translated as
"Bruder" (brothers). A friend of mine was told by a pastor (and so far
studied greek) that a better translation would be "Geschwister" (brothers
and Sisters). He said that the plural of ADELFOS could be translated both
"brothers" and "brothers and sisters".
Is this correct?
thankful for your help,
Storch
