Explanations:

  • For 7bit charsets, Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit is optional.
  • For 8 or 16 bit charsets, 8bit, Binary, or Quoted-Printable may be used in place of Base64, depending on the situation.
  • Where Content-Type: text/plain is mentioned, text/html may be used instead for www transmission.
  • Charset-edition is a new parameter optionally used to specify the year edition for a particular charset.
