Brad/Brenda comes into the bar area. Matre'd see him lurking
about.
MATRE'D
Brad/Brenda, talk to you a minute?
WAITPERSON
Sure.
MATRE'D
They still at it over there?
WAITPERSON
To tell the truth, it's hard to say.
Not your run of the mill wedding.
MATRE'D
No, it isn't. We've seen some strange
ones but I think this one wins the prize.
WAITPERSON
I thought the nudist wedding was about as
different as you could get.
MATRE'D
Now you have me worried.
WAITPERSON
How do you mean?
MATRE'D
Maybe they plan on taking off their clothes
later. I didn't plan for that sort of thing.
It's one thing to go out the Columbia and get
away from it all but around here, with people
everywhere -- no, surely they'd tell me about
something like that.
WAITPERSON
What makes you think they might go naked?
MATRE'D
Well, who knows what they'll do? All that
hippy attire, I guess that's what they're
up to, a contemporary sixties hippy wedding --
once you get that far out, anything can
happen.
WAITPERSON
All we can do is keep a watch on them.
MATRE'D
I suppose so.
WAITPERSON
I've got some chores to do.
MATRE'D
Just a minute.
WAITPERSON
Sir?
MATRE'D
I found something that disturbs me, Brad/Brenda.
WAITPERSON
What's that?
MATRE'D
This here.
Out of his pocket he takes a plastic bag of what appears to
be cocaine. It's the dope Brad/Brenda him/herself had hidden.
MATRE'D
You know what it is?
WAITPERSON
I can guess.
MATRE'D
It was in the supply room. I was checking
if we had more chairs convenient, and there it was.
WAITPERSON
Well, how'd it get there?
MATRE'D
That's the question, isn't it?
WAITPERSON
I hope you don't think--
MATRE'D
You? Heavens, no! I know you too well
for that. I was thinking it might be
Don.
WAITPERSON
Don? I wouldn't have thought . . .
MATRE'D
Anyway, I'd better speak to him after we're
through. There's nothing to be done about it
now.
WAITPERSON
I suppose not.
MATRE'D
This much must be worth quite a bit, don't
you think?
WAITPERSON
I never mess with the stuff but, yeah, it
is enough to imagine the street value would
be considerable.
MATRE'D
Hang on to it, will you?
WAITPERSON
Me?
MATRE'D
Makes me nervous. Wrong generation, I guess.
Haven't you ever tried it?
WAITPERSON
Once at a party, long time ago -- didn't do
a thing for me.
MATRE'D
So it doesn't make you nervous anyway. We'll
see what Don has to say about it.
He gives the cocaine to Brad/Brenda, who puts it in a pocket.
MATRE'D
Feel better already.
WAITPERSON
You just want me to hold on to it?
MATRE'D
I don't want Don, whoever it is, getting
it in the supply room and destroying the
evidence. Just hang on to it for me.
WAITPERSON
Sure.
MATRE'D
Thanks, Brad/Brenda. You said you had chores?
WAITPERSON
Right.
Brad/Brenda moves off, into G, trying to get Jack's attention
to go to D. Then he goes to D alone. /ex8/ TIME CODE: 23:30
