LILI-PAD: Long-term Investigations Library - Pathogens of Amphibians Database
Title
LILI-PAD: Long-term Investigations Library - Pathogens of Amphibians Database
Research Area(s):
Biology
Description: Physical form of the data:
paper and electronic
Description: Content and context of data, if known:
We are seeking funds to continue development and finalize Lili-PAD, a national archive for amphibian disease data within the Western Ecological Research Center Multitaxa Database. LILI-PAD will be accessible to USGS ARMI program scientists, as well as researchers from other government agencies, universities, and other affiliations and planning amphibian disease research and monitoring programs. The Western Ecological Research Center Multitaxa Database Enterprise Architecture, a SQL data management system, provides a standardize platform and archive for cross-agency ecological data, from satellite telemetry to stream surveys to tissue samples.
Name of current data holder:
U.S. Geological Survey
Dates associated with data:
2006-2010
Size:
tens of thousands of records in total
Data condition:
fair
Risk level:
medium
Known access and restrictions:
none
Notes:
The collaborative design enables Armi to ask the kind of questions it does about the environmental variables that affect amphibians in a truly integrated manner. This allows the study of Chytridiomycosis, a disease that is implicated in amphibian declines to be able to be stored into a database. It also lets Ranaviruses and Perkinsus-like organism data to be stored.
