Mallery , dykki settle , jonathan magid , simon spero , Judson Knott , kevin gamiel Subject: SunSITE (and White House papers) now gophered We have a working browsing, searching gopher on sunsite.unc.edu. People need only point their gopher clients to port 70 at sunsite.unc.edu and they'll be in our gopher-space. I made the gopher equivalent of the politics swais client as one option and except for the database of Federal Judges at Columbia which has been down it all works pretty well. Simon's new free-wais threw us a bit of a curve and we've taken it out until he can come home and decide whether to bang on it or to bang on us. It or our gopher presented the searches as an incredably long docid. The older search engine does not. we thouf=ght that this might be related to the Xmosaic problem but Marc tells us that that problem still exists. We'd like to have the week end to arange things before we officially announce the thing, but feel free to give it a whirl and tell us what you think. If you have no gopher client and don;t want to wait to get one, login as gopher on sunsite. ============================================== Paul Jones Office FOR Information Technology University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, NC Paul_Jones@unc.edu Self-determination for Kernow, Alba, Cymru, Eire, Mannin, and Breizh
