To Whome May Come These Pressents:

GREETINGS AND BEWARE

Whereas, the Good Ship HYDRUS, bound Westward for _______________ to sink the Rising Sun, is about to enter our domain; and the aforesaid ship carries a large and slimy cargo of landlubbers, beachcombers, cargo-rats, sea lawyers, lounge-lizards, parlor-dunnigansx, plow-deserters, park bench-warmers, chkcken-chasers, hay-tossers, chit-signers, sandcrags, four-flushers, cross-word puzzle bugs, and all other living creatures of land, and last but not least, he-vamps and liberty hounds, falsely masquarading as seaqmen, of which low scum you are a member having never appeared before us; and

WHEREAS, The Royal Court of the Raging Main has been convened by uson board the good Ship HYDRUS on the 6th day of February, 1945m at Longitude 176°01' W and an inspection of our Naval High Royal Roster shows that it is high time the sad and wandering nautical soul of that much-abused body of yours appeared before the High Tribunal or Neptune; and

BE IT KNOWN, That we hereby summon and command you _______________ now a __________, U.S> Navy, to appear before the Royal High Court and Our August Presence on the aforesaid date at such time as may best suit our pleasure, to asccept most heartily and with good grace the pains and penalties of the awful tortures that will be inflicted upon you, to be examined as to fitness to be come one of our Trused Shellbacks; if not present you will be given as food for sharks, whales, pollywogs, frogs and all living things of the sea; who will devour your -- head, body and sould as a warning to all land-lubbers entering my domain without warning. You are hereby charged as follows:

CHARGE I: In that _______________ now a __________ USN, has hitherto willfully and maliciously failed to show reverence and allegiance to our Royal person, and is therein and thereby a vile land-lubber and pollywog.

CHARGE II: Failure to give his highness correct data on ship's movements while traveling in his domain.

CHARGE III: Tickeling Royal Babys feet.

Disobey this Summons Under Pain of our Swift and Terrible Displeasure. Our Vigilance is Ever Wakeful, Our Vengeance is Just and Sure.
