Subject: Change in Uniform Regulation No. 21: additional garment
to be added to Articles of Equipment for enrolled women
of the Naval Reserve Force.

Bureau of Navigation CIRCULAR LETTER No. 175-18.

To: All Ships & Stations.
 
Subject: Change in Uniform Regulation No. 21; additional garment
to be added to Articles of Equipment for enrolled women of the Naval Reserve Force.

1. Add Article 272 under "Change in Uniform Regulations No. 15.

CAPES.

Capes to be made of blue navy cloth, flared, length to bottom of skirt, as prescribed in last sentence of Article 265, "Change in Uniform Regulations, No. 15," with roll collar also of blue navy cloth, to be fastened with hook and eye and fitted with storm flap, secured with buttons on underside of collar, for use when worn with collar turned up. To have two (2) Navy frogs two inches by four inches (2" x 4") and four inches (4") apart, the upper one being four (4") inches below the neck. To have two (2) patch pockets, conveniently placed on the inside, five (5") inches wide and ten (10") inches deep, beginning ten (10":) inches below the neck; and two (2) vertical slits, one on each side, eight (8") inches long and beginning fourteen (14") inches below the shoulders, to permit freedom of arms outside of cape when cape is fastened, each slit to have button and buttonhole in center. To be lined with a suitable black material and fitted with a loop inside of collar band for hanging-up purposes; also a flap two inches by two and one-half inches (2" x 2½") fitted with buttonhole twenty-two (22") inches from bottom of cape, with button placed opposite, for use when cape is worn thrown back over shoulders.
