    Presentation of a Loving Cup to the Officers and Men of the Imperial Japanese Navy, January 1910


    Halftone reproduction of a photograph showing the Japanese Minister of Marine, Admiral Saito Makoto (left center foreground) accepting the cup in ceremonies at Tokyo in January 1910. The cup was presented by Rear Admiral John Hubbard, Commander, Third Division, U.S. Pacific Fleet (right foreground) on behalf of the Officers and Men of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, in recognition of the courtesies they had received during the "Great White Fleet"'s visit to Japan in October 1908.
    Also present, at left (just beyond Admiral Saito) is Japanese Admiral Count Togo Heihachiro. U.S. Ambassador Thomas J. O'Brien is in the right center.

    Japanese Minister of Marine, Admiral Saito Makoto (left center foreground) accepts the cup in ceremonies at Tokyo in January 1910.     The names of Japanese warships are engraved around the top of the cup, while those of Atlantic Fleet battleships are engraved around its bottom.
