Admiral Graf Spee
(German Armored Ship, 1936)

Photograph of the base of the main battery range finder, atop the ship's forward superstructure, with a sketch showing the arrangement of the range finder housing and its associated fire control platform. Note the identification of the ship's radar equipment as a "radio direction finder". Taken on board her wreck in the River Plate, near Montevideo, Uruguay, where she had been scuttled in December 1939.
