"CV 9-19 Aircraft Carrier"

Preliminary design plan of the Essex class (CV-9) aircraft carriers, apparently showing the arrangement finally accepted.
This plan is for a ship of 27,100 tons standard displacement (33,900 tons trial displacement). Length between perpendiculars is 820', beam 93' and trial draft 26' 10". Machinery is of 150,000 horsepower for a speed of 33 knots.
The drawing is dated 23 September 1941. A handwritten note below the date line comments "This is later than date on contract plans", indicating that this drawing was prepared "after the fact".
Scale of the inboard profile and deck drawings is 1/32" = 1'. Scale of the midship hull section drawing is 1/16" = 1'.

The original plan is in the 1939-1944 "Spring Styles Book" held by the Naval Historical Center.
