"6" A.A. Cruiser - 6 Twin Turrets - Scheme "F""

(an initial effort, submitted in revised form)

Preliminary design plan prepared for the General Board during the development of a light cruiser with rapid-firing 6"/47 anti-aircraft guns, which ultimately became the Worcester (CL-144) class.
This plan, dated 23 December 1942, is for a 640-foot (waterline length), 12,850 (standard displacement) ship with twelve main battery guns. It was cancelled before submission and a revised "Scheme F" was prepared under date of 30 December 1942 (see Photo # S-511-57).
Scale of the original drawings is 1/32" = 1'.

The original plan is in the 1939-1944 "Spring Styles Book" held by the Naval Historical Center.
