Arthur (American Barge, 1906).
Probably saw U.S. Navy service (under registry ID # 1730) in 1917-1919

Arthur, a 240 gross ton barge, was built at Gildersleeve, Connecticut, in 1906. In early November 1917 she was reportedly taken over for World War I U.S. Navy service. According to her data card Arthur was returned to her owners in mid-August 1919.

This page features the only view we have concerning the barge Arthur, which probably saw U.S. Navy service under registry ID # 1730 in 1917-1919.

In port, possibly in the New York City area when she was inspected by the Third Naval District, circa 1917.
Assigned registry ID # 1730, this barge was reportedly taken over for U.S. Navy service on 2 November 1917. Her data card states that she was returned to her owners on 12 August 1919.
