Barge # 66 (American Barge, 1918).
Served in the U.S. Navy as Barge # 66 (ID # 2604), Freight Lighter # 92 and YF-92 in 1918-1947

Barge # 66, a 674-ton (displacement) wooden barge, was built at Tottenville, New York, in 1918 for the Moran Towing & Transportation Company of New York City. Taken over by the Navy at about the time of her completion and assigned registry ID # 2604, she was renamed Freight Lighter # 92. The barge spent her long Navy career in the New York area, becoming YF-92 in 1920, and was not disposed of until 1947.

This page features the only view we have concerning Moran Company Barge # 66, which was the U.S. Navy's Freight Lighter # 92 and YF-92 in 1918-1947.

Barge # 66
(American Barge, 1918)

Under construction at the Harry Cossey Shipyard, Tottenville, New York, in 1918.
Built for the Moran Towing & Transportation Company, of New York City, this barge was inspected by the Third Naval District on 23 April 1918 and assigned the registry ID # 2604. Subsequently taken over by the Navy, she became Freight Lighter # 92 and later YF-92.
