USS LST-1 (1942-1947)

USS LST-1, name ship of a class of hundreds of 2366-ton tank landing ships, was built at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was commissioned in mid-December 1942 and transited down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers to reach salt water. Assigned to the European Theater for combat operations, LST-1 participated in the Sicily invasion in July 1943, the Salerno landings in September, the Anzio-Nettuno operation during January-March 1944, the Normandy invasion in June 1944, and subsequent operations along the western European coast. No longer required after the end of World War II, LST-1 was decommissioned in May 1946 and sold for scrapping in december 1947.

This page features all our views of USS LST-1.
