USS Vivace, a 118-foot patrol boat, was built in at Morris Heights, New York in 1904 as the civilian steam yacht Vixen. Later renamed Vivace, she was taken over by the Navy for World War I service during the summer of 1917, placed in commission in September of that year, and assigned to duty in the New York City area. Apparantly proving difficult to maintain, the vessel was decommissioned a year later and promptly stricken from the Navy list. Vivace was sold as "junk" in April 1919.
