-- U.S. NAVY SHIP TYPES --

WORLD WAR I ERA COLLIERS --
with Specialized Coal Handling Gear

During World War I the U.S. Navy had nine colliers with specialized coal handling gear. All were built by the Navy to support the combatant fleet.

To facilitate identification, these vessels are listed in four classes, all containing ships of essentially identical design ("sister ships").

This page features a table (with links to individual ships) of World War I era U.S. Navy colliers with specialized coal handling gear, plus a photograph of each ship in this group.
