Title: Photo and Video Tours

Gardens
- Photo tour of five of the public
gardens in and around Vancouver, BC. The weather in this city may be
cloudy and misty for much of the year, but the gardens prosper. Most of
the photos here are from the 55 acre VanDusen Botanical Gardens, but there
are also pictures from Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, the Park and
Tilford Gardens in North Vancouver, and Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island.
Be warned that this is a big file of approximately 1 Meg. All images are
from 35 mm film.
- Photo tour of the Botanical
Garden in Christchurch, New Zealand on December 1, 1993 (about 450 Kb).
This garden features a crystal clear river, and extensive rock garden,
and the biggest and healthest herbaceious perennial border I've ever seen.
A little too early in the season for the best bloom, but still some inviting
pictures. Most of the images are digitized from hi-8 video frames with
a few from 35 mm negatives.
- Photo tour of the Botanical
Garden in Dunedin, New Zealand on December 4, 1993 (about 800 Kb).
This garden occupies mainly a hill overlooking the bay but also includes
a flat area at the base of the hill and another clear river bordering a
long steeply inclined rock garden, and an aviary at the top of the hill.
Although further south, more flowers were in bloom here than in Christchurch.
Most of the images are digitized from hi-8 video frames, with a couple
from 35 mm negatives.
Travel
- Photo tour of our August hike along the Maroon-Crater
Scenic Loop in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness near Aspen, Colorado.
Maroon lake is at 9580 feet and Crater Lake is at 10,076 feet. The entire
trail is about 3.2 miles round trip up a rocky but lushly green mountain
valley and fields of wildflowers. Included are some very nice pictures
of both lakes with sky and mountains reflected in their mirror smooth surfaces.
Fishing
- Three
Days on the Frying Pan, Colorado (mostly text and a couple of pictures
describing some great dry fly fishing I had in mid-August, 1996)
