The sustag-l email list was established for discussion of prinicples underlying the establishment of sustainable agriculture systems. It is assumed that we don't know how to make agriculture sustainable, that it is a complex problem with biological, physical, chemical, mechanical, mystical/religious, social, political, and economic aspects. This problem will only be successfully addressed when many people from a wide range of backgrounds can consult together in freely-ranging discussions on any and all aspects of the problem in a calm and rational atmosphere.
Sustag-l is a moderated email discussion list. That means that all posts are briefly reviewed by the listowner (me) before being posted to the list. Posts to sustag-l should be reasonably courteous, personal attacks or slurs should be avoided although, of course, ideas and concepts will often be attacked -- the truth emerges when widely varying ideas meet and differences in viewpoint can be examined.
Actually I have only sent one post back for rewrite, almost anything will go so don't be afraid to present your ideas. The main effect of moderating the group is that requests to subscribe or unsubscribe do not appear on the list, I just take care of them. :-)
