I've found the piece of paper now. The three apples I particularly liked
Laxton Superb, Lord Lambourn and Pitt(something) Pineapple - can't read
my writing. 

One of the difficulties in tasting apples, I found, is that you don't 
actually eat a whole apple and dont really get a true idea of what it
would be like to eat one. I suppose its a skill you have to learn like any
mass tasting.
