Dear Colleagues:

The January/February issue of Progressive Engineer, the online
magazine
covering engineering activities in the mid-Atlantic and northeast
regions of the U.S., focuses on construction and includes a story that
might be of interest. It concerns the Philip Merrill Environmental
Center, the new headquarters for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation that
serves as a model of ecological design and construction. The unique
building has a host of water-related features. Composting toilets
reduce water usage and nutrients getting into the bay. Runoff from
the
parking lot is treated in a bioretention filter -- actually a wetland.
And a rainwater collection system supplies water for uses that don't
require potable water.

You can see this at http://www.ProgressiveEngineer.com.
