Four students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa

Two current students and two recent School graduates were initiated last fall into Phi Beta Kappa, the most prestigious national honor society for undergraduates.

Phillip Buiser, Leslie Lane, Kelli Boutin and Laura Hogshead were inducted to the Alpha of North Carolina Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at the Nov. 20 initiation ceremony in Chapel Hill.

Buiser is a senior in the advertising sequence, and Boutin is a senior in the public relations sequence. Lane and Hogshead graduated in May 2000 and were in the public relations sequence.

"This is a great honor for these students, and we are very proud of them," said Senior Associate Dean Tom Bowers. "It is a great honor for the School to have so many Phi Beta Kappas."

Bowers said the School usually has anywhere from five to 10 students initiated each year into Phi Beta Kappa during the two annual initiations.

Cindy Elmore is a first-year doctoral candidate.
