Enhanced IDEOLOGIC
IDEOLOGIC introduces a new enhancement: the "Stalking-Horse Module." Standard IDEOLOGIC analyzes voter responses to candidates, identifying voter and candidate relative "locations," closeness, voter choices, and the "dimensionality" of those locations. It, for example, can identify trends in voter assessments of candidates (see our demonstration of this analysis).
Enhanced IDEOLOGIC
- employs a wide range of graphic representations.
For an example of the Enhanced IDEOLOGIC representations, select enhanced graphics.
- identifies and graphically represents the connection between issues and the "surrogate" or "stalking-horse" issue candidates raise to tap into these connections.
- determines how hefty a role this surrogate issue plays in the voter's assessment of candidates.
For an example of how this new "stalking horse" analysis works, select Enhanced IDEOLOGIC.

Additional Advantages to IDEOLOGIC
Enhanced IDEOLOGIC offers some additional advantages over standard IDEOLOGIC. These include:
- graphics capabilities that allow users to specify their own logos and representations.
- identification of which issues relate to which cluster. Thus, we can now specify which cluster (where more than one exists) determines the voter's selection.
- graphic depiction of these clusters and their relative effects. We can now specify which cluster has the largest effect on voter choice.
- relative stability of clusters and stalking horse issues over time allows for early identification of underlying issue themes. For news organizations, this new capacity allows editors enough advance warning so that they can assign special reports covering these issues for later use.
For a demonstration of this capability, see the Wilson Stalking Horse Analysis example.
