Formed in 1981, the Presidency Research Group (PRG) represents the scholarly community whose professional interests focus on the American Presidency. Its membership includes scholars from around the world. While primarily political scientists its members also come from a number of academic disciplines. The PRG is an "organized section" of the American Political Science Association (APSA). The PRG sponsors the development of professional research on the Presidency, including funding of research, availability of essential evidence, and issues of governance associated with the Presidency.
