North Carolina Pulled Pork Barbecue Joints

Wilber's Barbecue
Kinston Highway
Goldsboro, NC 28489
(919) 778-5218

Located at the end of the runway at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Wilber's has been made famous around the world by military pilots who have stopped in for a sandwich or three between flights.

The counter at Wilber's shortly after the lunch crowd has gone.

Wilber Shirley got this joint started in 1962, and since that time he has served his barbecue to two United States presidents. This joint cooks split halves of 60-90 pound hogs in the eastern North Carolina style over oak coals in closed pits. The finishing sauce is a sharp vinegar-and-pepper concoction. If you were given two chances in a lifetime to taste North Carolina pulled pork barbecue, this would have to be one of the two joints you might want to choose.

Wilber's also serves up a mighty fine breakfast. And, since they are open from 6:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night, you can enjoy Wilber's barbecue morning, noon, and night! Just make certain you get there before they run out. When it's gone, it's gone and they simply hang up a sign that sez, "Out of Barbecue".
