My response:
Sure, I wrote them rather hastily and did find a significant mistake:
 after steaming them and before straining them I mashed them up well 
with a potato masher. Also, I might add that cornel is pronounced 
with the accent on the first syllable. It may be a new word for some 
of us, it was for me). So I will make the correction below. Also, I 
added a 'recipe' for a drink (just add water to the syrup, see below):

    For a refreshing drink, like cranberry juice:

    Just add water and ice to the syrup to suit your taste.
