[nafex] Re: solitary bees
The bees that BYFG (including me) are working with are Japanese
Hornfaces bees imported by Dr. Susan Batra(retired) of the USDA.
The management techniques were developed by Dr. Batra and she does
have you move them at the end of May. But she also has you keep them
horizontal. I haven't seen negative effects from moving them at the
correct time.
I do know of one grower who had his bees in a non-moveable board
found that overtime the bees gradually died out (parasites? disease?
spray?)
