Re: [nafex] Gideon apple

Jerry,
I don't grow Gideon, but from the information I have on it, it would ripen
in late September in northern zone 4 climate. Beach (Apples of NY) says
season is October (note that Beach's season relates to eating season rather
than picking season).
A picture I have of it shows a round apple (not conical), however Beach
says about its shape: "roundish conical or somewhat ovate, sometimes
inclined to oblong, angular."
Skin should be a waxy pale yellow with a pink blush on exposed cheek.
If you want I can send you the picture I have off list.
Claude
