[nafex] Surround WP and Japanese beetles

Michigan State Univ. and USDA data on Surround WP control of Japanese
beetles are excellent. Best results are achieved when applications are
made before, or right after, first adult emergence. The beetles, as they
emerge in late June, tend not to infest the Surround-treated plants.
Thus, they do not leave their aggregating pheromone that attracts other
beetles. Applications after infestation can also be effective.

As you've read, Surround leaves a white coating on the plant and there will
be plants that are obviously undesirable to apply on throughout the
infestation. An example is blueberries and caneberries. For berries, you
can apply weekly three times starting in mid to late June when the berries
are still small, then stop. This program will at least gain some early
relief. Wine grapes can be applied up to veraision. Smooth skinned fruit
like apples and pears can be applied to harvest as long as you have a way
to wipe or wash then off.
