[nafex] Re: Apple Pie Apple Sauce

My vote is for Gravenstein. I've made pies with it myself and they
have been very good, however, my personal taste is for a more intense
flavor so I like to use a sour apple which requires sugar to balance
it. I voted for Gravenstein because it seems more universally liked,
each year there is a pie making contest here in eastern Wisconsin
among the fancy restaurants and I am told by an orchardist that the
Gravenstein always wins.
I was wondering if anyone has tried a pie with Bramleys Seedling, it
is apparently the most popular pie apple in the UK.
I hear a lot of Wisconsin/MN people mention Wolf River also, I think
its popular because the fruits are so large and easy to prepare.
