[nafex] vole deterent weed

Just to note an observation - I previously believed that the extensive
fall vole damage I experienced was not influenced by amount or type of
weeds. By the time I realized the extent of the damage, I was so
disheartened that I did not bother to check my apple seedlings.
Last week while doing some inarching, I happened by the seedlings and
took a reluctant peek. Not a single little tender tree was damaged! All
are growing in last year's pickle patch which had been cardboard sheet
mulched and this year became covered in a carpet of ground ivy. Maybe
ground ivy is a worthwhile companion plant where drip or soaker hoses
are used to irrigate just the trees. Maybe there are other ways to
incorporate it..
