Re: [nafex] Crataegus fruits

I've had experience with fruit and trees of a number of species of Crategus,
including the giant Chinese haws (C. pinnatifida major). Mayhaw is used for
a lot more than jelly - ask members of the Southern Fruit Fellowship. They
make marinades, salad dressing, all sorts of things. The Chinese make fruit
leather and fruit flakes of the Chinese haw.
C. Azarole is a lot like rose hips in character and appearance.
Most of the northern species have a slightly fruity flavor and are rather
dry or mealy.
