[nafex] New List?
I'm in a quandry. I love NAFEX and the many relationships with it's members
I've been blessed with over the years. I also greatly enjoy the online
discussions through the NAFEX list. Unfortunately, my relationship with
Yahoo is not a happy one and I have had so much trouble trying to deal with
Yahoo that I would like to divorce myself from it. That was why I've been
trying to interest people in changing servers.
I really thought the new server being offered, at .ibiblio.com would be
something the list members would welcome. It is free, it has no ads, it
doesn't let it's membership lists out to anyone, and it is with a
university, so it would be very stable. There wouldn't be much of any
change for members except that the e-mails would start arriving with a
different name on the server.
It seems, however, that even if they don't have to do a thing, the
members of the NAFEX list don't want to shift servers. Yes, I know there
has been talk of having a list based with the NAFEX web site, but the people
who work on that site are overworked and it's not fair to put another load
on them at this time or any time. NAFEX is all volunteer and now Larry
London has volunteered to set up the new list site for NAFEX.
So now what do I do? I don't want to jump ship on NAFEX, but it almost
seems like the only way to get away from Yahoo is to start a new list, and
it would have to be one not officially associated with NAFEX since the
official list doesn't want to shift.
Is there another way?
