Here's a tip, see:

Journal of Extension - JOE
http://www.joe.org/

Go to Search, type things like:

survey + use
survey + public

Sift through these articles. Look for surveys that show
how farmers and gardeners use and learn from: Extension,
seed packets, retail garden centers, organizations, etc.
Or find a study that matches your interest, effective
outreach methods, case studies, etc.
