RE: [compost_tea] RE: pre-activating compost fungi

I started another tray today to use in a week.
I think the sooner you start it growing, the better
the more the fungal mass.

I also have a 2 yard pile of mixed wood chips.
I dug into the shady side of the pile where
it's nice and moist from all the rain we've had.
It's easy to see all the fungi growing
8 inches in, from any point on the surface. I selected chips with
the largest pieces of fungal threads and put those
in the compost basket as well.

So how would it be if we inoculated all the
compost with diverse media? I would think we'd have
large and small threads depending on the source.
I have no idea how important thread size is from
the differing sources.

Thanks, Judi. How long do you keep it growing before you use in your
tea?
