I would like to re-iterate that it is not just oxygen that eliminates the pathogens.

Please, let us be certain to get the message across correctly each time. Please don't forget to include all the factors when talking about dealing with pathogens, ok? We never know who is dropping in for a first time visit, and we don't want to have people get the wrong information.

I admit to being imperfect myself at times, so don't take this as criticism of everyone else. I know I mess up sometimes too and use short versions of explanations when I assume everyone knows what I'm talking about. I apologize to Autumn for getting snippy with her questions about pathogens in compost. I shouldn't have snapped. But it gets a little repetitious sometimes. I should just let other people answer.

I want to also point out that if you start with an overload of E. coli per gram of compost, then the three factors, aeration, good competitors for food and space, and good numbers of protozoa and nematodes in the compost tea to consume the pathogens may not be able to deal with billions and billions of human pathogens. OK? You can push the ability of the "good guys" to deal with bad guys if the bad guys are just too many.
