Coordinate the Regional Infrastructure for Sustaining Agriculture (RISA)
Project

RISA will hire an employee to coordinate the Regional Infrastructure for
Sustaining Agriculture (RISA) project. RISA is a collaborative undertaking to
address the challenges of establishing new agricultural policy, developing
value-added markets, creating educational materials, bringing affordable,
nutritious food into urban neighborhoods and providing guidelines for
land-conserving development. Its area of focus is the 10 county region of
southeastern PA. A highly involved Leadership Community of 100 members
represents diverse interest groups and expertise in the region.

The person will facilitate communication among RISA members, inform the
public about RISA, provide organizational support, and develop additional
institutional and financial support. He/she will report to a seven-member
steering committee and the Executive Director of Reading Terminal Farmers'
Market Trust. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate broad knowledge of the food and
farming systems, an ability to interact with diverse groups, community and
organizational leadership, substantial involvement in community development,
and an understanding of critical regional development issues. The person will
work in the southeast Pennsylvania region. Office location is flexible. The
position is currently open; starting date is negotiable but should be as soon
as possible. Contract will be for one year, with the possibility for an
extension.
